Cryotherapy is a noninvasive treatment with no down time, no medications, and no scalpels. The cryotherapy we offer is a fast, localized and targeted cooling of specific areas on your body to help with inflammation, pain management, body contouring and mood enhancement.
The area of the skin is cooled quickly to 39F in less than 30 seconds. Thermoshock causes blood vessels and the underlining tissue to constrict (vasoconstriction) as a way to protect the bodies core temperature. As soon as cold source is removed, the body warms the area quickly by expanding the blood vessels to four times their original diameter (vasodilation) to allow a rush of freshly oxygenated blood to saturate the tissue. In addition, hormones, neurotransmitters, and nutrients flood into the localized area. At the same time waste and by-products produce from natural body processes are removed from the area to be processed and disposed of by the lymph system.
